Motorola Announces The New Moto X Not Moto X+1, New Moto G Not Moto G2 and Moto 360 Together With Moto Hint and PowerPack Micro
The second generation of Moto X is not called Moto X+1 instead, it is named as the new Moto X unlike what rumours has suggested. The Verge notes that "the metal frame is a huge deal" when it comes to the design to rival other smartphones such as the ones coming from HTC and Apple. The new Moto X has a bit larger display than the original Moto X sporting a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED 1,080 p full HD display, protected by corning gorilla Glass 3. For the design, it has metal accent, users can have a lot of choices when it comes to the back cover. The covers could have colourful variants, real woods and leathers that can be customised according to the choice of the user.
The new Moto X runs on the latest version of Android, the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat. It is powered by a quad-core 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor having 2GB of RAM. According to Motorola, the new Moto X responds faster with less drain on its battery. It has a 13MP rear and 2MP 1,080p front cameras. The speakers are placed on the front and at the bottom. It has a battery capacity of up to 2,300mAh. The New Moto X will launch later in September, according to The Verge. The 16GB unlock variant will cost $499 while the 32GB variant of the new Moto X will have a $50 premium.
Instead of Moto G2, Motorola introduces the new Moto G. It sports a 5-inch 720p AMOLED display to run on the same OS as the new Moto X, Android 4.4.4 Kitkat. It will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core GPU Adreno 305 processor and it will have an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The battery capacity of the new Moto G is up to 200mAh. It has a dual front speakers and dual mics as well. It will have a support for microSD and it will also have two SIM card slots.
The new Moto G is available starting September 4, 11AM CT at $19.99 on Motorola's official store website.
Aside from the new smartphones, Motorola also announced the anticipated Moto 360 smartwatch that sports a 1.56-inch backlit LCD Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display. Moto 360 runs on the Android Wear OS that is powered by a TI OMAP 3 processor. It has 4GB internal storage plus 512MB of RAM. Moto 360's battery capacity is up to 320mAh and it has wireless charging support with charging dock as well. The smartwatch features pedometer, optical heart rate monitor and bluetooth to be connected to any smartphone that runs on Android 4.3 or higher. By the way, the new smartwatch is also water resistant.
It can display notifications coming from the smartphone such as the weather, traffic, flight alerts and apps like Facebook. Moto 360 has the voice control feature where users can send a texts or set reminders, Google and ask directions from it. Moto 360 goes on sale today at $249 on Motorola's website.
Moto Hint that is a wireless earbud that can be used via bluetooth was also announced and it can be purchased for $149.99. And lastly, The PowerPack Micro that is a portable battery was also included on the company's announcement. It can be purchased for $39.99.
Seeing the new products from Motorola, it seems that Motorola listened to what its consumers have suggested and gave exactly what its consumers want from the design to details like the microSD and dual SIM card slots.
