Motorola Droid Turbo vs. Nexus 6: 4 Ways Verizon Flagship Will Beat Moto X-Based Google Phone
Prior to the Nexus 6 release date that is rumoured to happen in a matter of few weeks, a killer phone from Verizon and Motorola called the Droid Turbo is reported to touchdown very soon.
According to a new report from Forbes, the leaked specs attributed to the second Motorola flagship this 2014 (the first one being the second-gen Moto X) point to a handset that is worthy of challenging the smartphone big guns.
"On paper the Android-based Droid Turbo looks set to grind high profile rivals like the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6 into the dirt," said the Forbes report.
Interestingly, the Droid Turbo is a Motorola product that will also slug it out with the Nexus 6, which if persistent reports are correct is the Motorola Shamu or essentially the repurposed and scaled up Moto X.
And basing on the details available so far, there are four ways Verizon's Droid Turbo will likely trounce its Nexus 6 cousin:
Ultra HD display panel
The Nexus 6 is said pack a 5.9-inch QHD display panel that boasts of a 2K or 2560 x 1440 screen resolution. The Droid Turbo's screen profile is slightly smaller at 5.2-inch but the two devices share the same resolution numbers.
But with a shrunk front panel viewer, the Droid Turbo appears to enjoy an upper hand with its higher number of screen pixels that translates to sharper screen image and clip rendering.
High-capacity and long-lasting battery
Pointing to a leak provided by an online retail site operating from China, Droid Life is claiming that the Droid Turbo is likely to charge up real quick and retain its power juice longer than usual, mostly thanks to the handset's colossal 3900mAh battery.
It was suggested too that right out of the box, the Droid Turbo is equipped to support Qi wireless charging technology that will surely add up to the phone's sex appeal. No doubt this is a plus feature for consumers who have been wishing for a device that is juiced up easily and conveniently with the power lasting for some extra time.
Incredible 21MP main shooter
When it comes to the smartphone camera megapixel race, Nokia remains the dominant force. But Motorola seems to have plans of changing that soon as the Droid Turbo will reportedly wield a 21MP rear shooter.
If true, the device will easily outrace the majors, namely the iPhone 6 and Samsung's Galaxy Note 4, in this respect.
Near stock Android
Since the first Moto X and its other siblings were delivered last year, the Motorola devices have been known to stand on pure Android or the closest to the stock version that their maker can provide. That remains the case for the new Moto X and the Droid Turbo this 2014.
That would mean the Droid Turbo will mostly look (in terms of the user interface) and behave like its Nexus 6 cousin save for some Motorola features like Moto Voice and Connect that Android fans learn to love and use anyway.
No solid answers at the moment on when the Motorola Droid Turbo release date is though it should come a little later after the Nexus 6 arrival in the next few weeks, following Google's announced event on October 16.
