Motorola 'Moto E Successor' To Come With 4.5-Inch Display, Android v5.0 L And Under-The-Hood Configurations From Moto G
The wallet-friendly Motorola Moto E was released in May and this is easily one of the top devices for price-conscious customers. At sub-$150 price range, the Moto E is doing very well in emerging market like India, along with its sibling Moto G. However now, a new report suggests that a successor to the well-received Moto E is ready for official announcement.
Credible Greek website Techmaniacs says the next-generation Moto E will be launched very soon. However, there is no official word available to confirm if the device will be released by the end of 2014. As far as the key specifications go, the Moto E successor will reportedly feature a relatively bigger display size than the current-generation device, says Phone Arena. In specific, the Moto E successor will come with a 4.5-inch display but the screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels will be maintained, whereas the original version features a 4.3-inch display. With the display sizes getting bigger release-after-release, somewhere along the lines of 5.0-inch+, it is a good move by Motorola to opt for a larger display size.
Apart from the display specification, the under-the-hood configurations of the second-generation Moto E will reportedly be similar to the Moto G from 2013, instead of the original Moto E, opines the same site. This means that the handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor in place of the Snapdragon 200 SoC seen in the original handset. Nonetheless, the 1 GB of RAM unit will reportedly be maintained in the upcoming phone.
Moving on to the camera configuration, there will a 5 MP rear-facing camera unit with no LED flash, similar to the current-generation Moto E. It is worth noting that the original version does not house a front-facing shooter and so will be the upcoming device. On the software side, this smartphone is believed to run on the latest Android v5.0 Lollipop OS, while the original version runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS.
Speaking of price, the original Moto E comes for $129 without a contract, whereas the Moto E successor will also fall under the low-cost band, opines Phone Arena. Do you think the next-generation Moto E with configurations from the relatively well-specced Moto G, will work out for Motorola? Feel free to leave a comment.
