Motorola Moto G Vs. Xiaomi Mi3 – Low in Price, High -level Features
The battle among the smartphone brands seems to be unending. Just as one brand unleashes it's latest brainchild, it is definitely sure that the rival brands will uncover their own 'monster' after a week or so, sometimes even simultaneously.
Undoubtedly, the pressure is more intense for smaller tech brands to be able to cope up with the tech giants' popularity and be able to at least get a decent part in the market share.
But with the introduction of the Motorola Moto G and Xiaomi Mi 3,could it be that the tech world is already open for possibilities that that smaller names in the business can now stand up against Apple, Samsung, Sony or LG?
Lets take a closer look into the specs and feature of the Moto G and the Mi 3.
Design and Display
The Motorola Moto G has a 4.5 inch display, with pixel density of up to 329 ppi and resolution of up to 720 by 1280 pixels. Its operating system is Android 4.4 While Xiaomi Mi 3 is a bit larger with a 5-inch display, pixel density of 441 ppi and resolution of about 1080 by 1920 pixels and run by Android 4.2.
Although both handsets have light and proximity sensors, only the Moto G has a scratch-resistant glass.
Hardware and Price
The Motorola Moto G's system chip is Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 , 1.2 GHz quad-core while the Chinese smartphone Mi 3 is designed with the 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 8247AB. RAM and internal storage for the former model is 1 GB and 8 GB respectively while the latter has 2 GB RAM and as high as 16 GB.
The Xiaomi Mi3 is priced at around $290 AUD while the Moto G smartphone 8GB is priced at around $249.95 AUD.
Camera and Connectivity
Both the Moto G and the Xiaomi Mi 3 have bluetooth connectivity , Wi-Fi , and GPS but only the Mi 3 has NFC support.
The Moto G has a 1.3 mp front camera and a 5mp rear camera with LED flash and has features such as autofocus, burst mode, digital zoom, geo-tagging, HDR ( high dynamic range) mode and panorama. The Mi 3 on the other hand has a 2 mp front cam and a 13 mp rear camera but with a dual LED flash. Features are basically same with the Moto G except for the panorama mode but its camera has face and smile detection and a BSI or black-illuminated sensor.
Bottomline
These handsets' price tag are relatively low compared to phones made by Apple or Samsung. But despite the price, it doesn't mean that they can not compete with the high-end brands in terms of functionality and performance.
