Motorola X ‘Leaked Photo’ Reported, But No Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie? [PHOTO]
Motorola X could be unveiled at the annual Google I/O event in May, says the persistent rumours. In the same occasion, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will be reportedly introduced. Now a rendered image of Motorola X has been leaked, but the specs scoop that comes with it says no Android 5.
GSMArena on Monday reported about receiving a rendered image of the much-anticipated Motorola X. However, the tech site warned readers against taking its source's word as legit Google Android news. It cited its source as "a person close to the team behind the X Phone." Notably, the specs that came with the image did not mention Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Instead, the new Google Motorola device will reportedly run on Android 4.2 out of the box.
In the list of specs that accompanied the Motorola X leaked image, the Snapdragon 800 chipset is mentioned as the device brain. The phone will reportedly feature a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. A 4,000 mAh battery is listed, but a microSD card slot won't happen, according to the source.
"The Android version is 4.2 Jelly Bean with a very few customizations job by Motorola. In the image (assuming that it pictures the real thing) you'll notice that the icons are stock Android," GSMArena reported.
The site's source went to as far as saying that the Motorola X could compete against Sony Xperia Z in terms of IP57 certification. This means the next Google Android device might also be waterproof.
Earlier rumours indicated that either Motorola X or the Nexus 5 would be the first to ship with Android 5 Key Lime Pie. But the late-2012 release date of the Nexus 5 convinces some Android observers that Google with go with Motorola this year. This reconciles with reports that Motorola X will not be a single mobile device, but a brand. There will reportedly be a Motorola X phone and tablet, and these devices will come in series spread in years. Fortunately for those who couldn't wait for official word from Google, the I/O event is happening in less than two months (May 15).
