MSI officially unveils GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X card
MSI has officially released details for its new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X graphics card. The company has also provided technical specifications for the upcoming hardware. This will allow technology enthusiasts to gauge specific traits such as GPU and VRAM clock speeds.
The new graphics card will be offering virtual reality (VR) support. The Gaming X card will be supported by NVIDIA VRWorks technology, which can help VR enthusiasts get more realistic visual, audio and haptic feedback.
The new graphics card will be offering MSI's signature three overclocking modes. These are the "Silent Mode," "Gaming Mode" and "OC Mode." Each of these modes provide certain clock speeds to users, especially on varying tasks.
The Silent Mode has 140/1,582MHz on the GPU and 11,000MHz on the 11GB of GDDR5X. This is the optimum overclock setting of the graphics card.
The Gaming Mode will increase GPU performance to 1,544/1,657MHz and 11,016MHz with the GDDR5X. This mode is for gamers who want to play on very high settings without sacrificing game performance.
Lastly, the OC Mode will increase GPU clock speed up to 1,569/1,683MHz and 11,124MHz for the GDDR5X. This mode is fit for users who need extremely high GPU performance, such as for heavy graphics editing.
According to the MSI website, users have the option to allow their computers to choose the overclock setting by default. They also have the option to customise their overclock settings for their preferred performance. All of these can be accessed using the GeForce GTX Gaming App, which comes with MSI hardware.
The new graphics card is short and stocky, which is typical with MSI models. It features a custom PCB (Printed Circuit Board), which is another signature for MSI products. The backplate of the upcoming card also seem sturdy, which is a must given the tendency of graphics card to be fragile.
According to PC Authority, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X graphics card will also feature its latest Twin Frozr Vi thermal design. This is especially suited for heavy-duty users who want to use applications on very high graphics settings.
The Twin Frozr Vi features smooth heat pipes and airflow control to regulate temperature around the hardware. Its Zero Frozr feature will stop the built-in fan during low-load situations, which lessens the noise from the card.
It also has a new fan called the Torx Fan 2.0. The fan has a dispersion fan blade and a traditional fan blade. These allow the Torx Fan 2.0 to accelerate and stabilise airflow around the graphics card. The two blades will be silent through the card's double ball bearings.
Unfortunately, MSI has not revealed a release date for the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X graphics card. MSI has not revealed a price for the card either.
