Derrick Rose, the star point guard for the Chicago Bulls is once again out because of an injury— on the same knee where he had a major operation in previous years. The official team statement said that Rose has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will go under the knife on Friday.

No timetable for a return or estimate of recovery has been released by the team. Multiple media outlets confirmed the news on Tuesday including Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

Rose has struggled with various injuries since winning the NBA Most Valuable Player award in the 2010-2011 season. From 2011 to 2015 seasons, he has missed a total of 215 games. Rose’s rivals in the NBA including John Wall of the Washington Wizards; LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers; and Paul George, who’s in recovery for his own injury, of the Indiana Pacers showed support for the Bulls point guard via Twitter:

Rose missed the entire 2012-2013 season because of a torn left ACL. The following season, 2013-2014, he played in 10 games before tearing the meniscus in his right knee. Earlier this season, he missed eight games because of hamstring and ankle injuries.

Rose, who averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 46 games this season, is under contract with the Bulls until the 2016-2017 NBA Season. For the last two years in his deal, he is set to be paid a combined $41.4 million guaranteed.
