NBA Score: Phoenix Suns 111, Charlotte Hornets 106
The Phoenix Suns trailed by double-digits and most part of the game. They never gave up and stole one on the road against the Charlotte Hornets winning 111-106 on Wednesday night in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Goran Dragic finished with 20 points and 8 assists in his first game back since suffering from a strained back and led the Suns’ fight back. The Hornets led by as many as 16 points in the first quarter and still had the 61-54 advantage at halftime. Other Suns starters also chipped in with Eric Bledsoe scoring 15, Markief Morris 13 and Alex Len 10.
Isaiah Thomas and Gerald Green came off the bench for the Suns and contributed in scoring. Thomas had 23 points including 3 three-pointers while Green 16 markers on 6-of-11 field goal shooting for the Suns, which shot 52.4 per cent as a team proving that Charlotte still is struggling defensively this season.
The Hornets had a one-point lead entering the final two minutes of the fourth but Dragic stole the ball that led to a tough lay-up by Bledsoe, who gave the 105-104 lead to his team. The Hornets never recovered as Kemba Walker missed on a potential game-winning lay-up and the Suns took care of free throws in the end game. Phoenix’s effort meant that they stopped a six-game losing streak, their longest of the year.
It was an unfortunate ending for Charlotte, which wanted to snap a three-game skid. That streak extends to four losses and they drop to 6-19 for the season and just 5-9 at home. They also wasted away Al Jefferson’s big double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds— the big man’s best effort so far this season. Kemba Walker added 27 points and 7 assists. Lance Stephenson, who had 7 points, injured his groin in the third quarter and returned to the floor but saw limited minutes in the payoff period.
