NBA Trade Discussions ‘Tremendous’; 10 Teams Including Rockets, Clippers and Hornets Active For Probable Deals—NBA Insider
The NBA Trade Deadline is set Feb. 19, 2015, still roughly two months away, but there’s already a “tremendous volume of trade discussions” according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski. In a pair of recent posts in his social media account Twitter, the popular NBA writer claims that as many as ten teams are active in trying to explore trade deals in the 2014-2015 NBA Season.
No sense of imminent deals, but tremendous volume of trade discussions among teams for only the mid-December benchmark.

Among most active teams on phones: (in no order): Celtics, Pistons, Suns, Timberwolves, Hornets, Clippers, Pacers, Nets, Nuggets, Rockets. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) December 16, 2014
Among the players recently involved in trade rumours are guard Lance Stephenson of the Charlotte Hornets; point guard Isaiah Thomas of the Phoenix Suns; centre Greg Monroe of the Detroit Pistons; Deron Williams and Joe Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets; and even star forward Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. Except for the Knicks, all the other teams are in Wojnarowski’s list of teams apparently very active in trying to make an exchange at this point of the season.
Stephenson signed a three-year deal with the Hornets in the offseason but Charlotte has struggled off the gates this year winning just six of the first 24 games. Meanwhile, Thomas of the Suns has fired his agent and appears to have chemistry issues with his teammates, particularly in the backcourt of the once-promising Suns. Over at Brooklyn, the Nets are reportedly willing to trade away Williams and/or Johnson but may find it difficult to find a trade partner consider the pair has two of the largest contracts in the league.
Among the teams mentioned, the Clippers and Rockets are two of the title contenders and they may be looking to beef up their roster to improve their chances in time for the NBA Playoffs. Other teams who are in rebuild mode have the pieces to move like the Celtics who may want to part with starting point guard Rajon Rondo, whose contract expires at the end of the season. Meanwhile, the Pistons, Timberwolves and Nuggets know that a playoff appearance could be difficult and that trading away their veterans or other assets may be necessary to acquire young guys and/or future draft picks.
Will a huge NBA trade go down before the trade deadline? Or will most teams stand pat like last season?
