“Neighbours” posted a sneak peek of Thursday’s episode on its Facebook page. In the clip, Xanthe and Ben are kissing when he suddenly pulls back and winces in pain after she presses on his shoulder. Xanthe checks Ben’s injury and is shocked to see how bad it is. “I can’t believe you took a hit for me,” she says.
The two talk about how they managed to get out of the house to see each other. Ben claims he told Karl that he’s going to the library, while Xanthe says she’s going for a walk. “On my way over here, I had this feeling, like someone was watching me,” she reveals. “I half expected Dad to jump out and take me home. All this sneaking around is making me so paranoid.”
Digital Spy reports that Ben and Xanthe almost gets caught when Sheila accuses him of damaging her tyres. Sheila confronts the Kennedys and the latest argument ends with someone getting hurt. However, Xanthe’s feeling of being stalked may have something to do with Gary’s former boss who’s out to retaliate. Thursday’s episode also features Amy, who feels guilty about Paul’s latest misfortune. When Amy learns that Leo is behind the restaurant sabotage to get back at Paul, she feels torn between siding with her dad or the man she’s attracted to.
“Neighbours” recap
On Wednesday, Piper defended her application for official independence, claiming she’s not “divorcing” her family. She said she’s put in a position wherein she couldn’t afford to go to school, which is why she had to do it. However, Terese and Brad completely lost it and refused to sign the document.
Later, Ned talked to Lauren about planning to move out after his community service. He borrowed some money from her, which she was more than willing to do to help him. It turned out the cash was really for Piper, who was shocked when Ned handed it to her. There was one catch – Ned asked Piper to rethink her plans of applying for independence. He made Piper realise how hard it is for Terese and Brad to lose another child. At Harold’s, Terese confronted Tyler about Piper’s big move. He revealed that Ned offered them some financial support, which surprised Terese.
Ned’s decision led to another argument. Brad and Terese felt like it undermined their efforts to teach Piper a lesson. When Brad asked where Ned got the money, Lauren piped in and said she gave him the cash but she didn’t know it was for Piper. Ned apologised but Brad won’t hear any of it, ordering him to back off. Later, however, Elly made Brad realise that Ned actually made a selfless, admirable move – he was willing to play the bad guy to save them all from doing something they’d regret. Brad apologised to Ned and acknowledged his efforts to help. Piper arrived to return the money, announcing that Tyler got a job. She also said she won’t push through with the independence application, saying she doesn’t want to hurt her parents any more than she already has.
Toadie delivered the bad news to Dee Bliss/Andrea Somers (Madeleine West) and Willow Bliss/Somers (Mieke Billing-Smith) . It turned out that there’s no money left in the Bliss estate -- Dee’s sister passed on all the money to a charity when she died, but the organisation went bankrupt. Dee was absolutely floored, realising all her efforts went down the drain. Back at the motel, Dee drowned her sorrows with alcohol. Willow tried to assure her that they can get back to their feet soon using options that don’t require deceiving people, but Dee said it was their only chance. When Dee noticed that Willow is packing their stuff, the teen said they need to leave Erinsborough as soon as possible. Willow said she doesn’t want Dee to go to jail and they don’t have a choice but to skip town.
However, it seemed Willow may be changing her mind when Toadie dropped by their room with Susan. They discussed about Willow’s dream of being a pilot someday and the schooling she needs to achieve that. She’s targeting one of the top schools in the country that specialises on the course needed and Susan offered to help her apply for a scholarship. Toadie made Willow take an online academic test and when she smashed it, he and Susan became fairly optimistic that Willow can get the scholarship. Later, Toadie told Dee about what happened, but she expressed doubts that they could afford it. He mentioned about the scholarship, then handed over some cash to help them get by, plus offered to cover the bill at Robinson’s. Toadie said he wanted to somehow make up for all the years he wasn’t there for them.
Meanwhile, Leo eavesdropped on Paul and Amy’s conversation about repair works in his restaurant. Amy’s plan to hire a kid from Jack’s rec center particularly piqued Leo’s interest. He wasted no time and headed to the rec center, supposedly to donate some video games for the kids. When Jack told Amy about it, she was suspicious, doubting his generosity. Speaking of doubts, Paul also had his misgivings about the kid Amy hired. It looked like he had a good reason to – the kid messed up the work and damaged The Flame Tree. Later, Leo was seen paying the kid for sabotaging the restaurant.
