An emotionally charged day awaits Ramsay Street as “Neighbours” closes the week. On Friday, Paige Smith’s (Olympia Valance) plans to get people off her back backfire. When she agreed to let David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) pretend he’s the father of her baby, their announcement only leads to more questions.

The real dad of Paige’s baby, Jack Callahan (Andrew Morley), also doesn’t react to their revelation. Paige starts to feel bad about lying to him, and it’s interesting to watch if this would prompt her to come clean. Other “Neighbours” characters who will appear prominently on the Jan. 27 episode include Leo Tanaka (Tim Kano), Gary Canning (Damien Richardson), Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou), Amy Williams (Zoe Cramond), Piper Willis (Mavournee Hazel) and Tyler Brennan (Travis Burns).

“Neighbours” also stars Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne), Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), Sonya Rebecchi (Eve Morey), Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney), Dee Bliss (Madeleine West), Stephanie Scully (Carla Bonner), Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor), Brad Willis (Kip Gamblin), Lauren Turner (Kate Kendall), Ned (Ben Hall), Elly Conway (Jodi Anasta), Sheila Canning (Colette Mann), Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson), Ben Ian Kirk (Felix Mallard) and Xanthe Canning (Lilly Van Der Meer).

“Neighbours” posted a sneak peek of Friday’s episode on its Facebook page. In the clip, Leo gets instructions from Gary, who appears to be the person who kidnapped the baby wombat in exchange for money. Gary’s disguising his voice to make sure Leo won’t recognise it’s him. As the two are talking about the exchange, Terese walks by and Leo looks at her suspiciously. Leo wonders, “How do I know that Warnie is still alive?” Gary assures him that he’s not going to harm the wombat. “Warnie is safe and well-fed,” Gary says. “You want to see him again? Then make sure the money is there in two hours.”

Digital Spy reports that Leo believes Paul and Terese are behind the kidnapping to sabotage the opening of his backpackers hostel. As a result, Amy finds herself struggling to choose whether to trust him or her dad. Leo, on the other hand, sees an opportunity to get back at Terese by using Piper and Tyler. Meanwhile, Brad and Lauren can’t help but be curious about Paige’s revelation, wondering why it took David so long to come forward as her baby’s father. Paige also begins to feel guilty when Jack doesn’t take her announcement well.

“Neighbours” recap

Previously, an emotional Dee told Toadie, Sonya and Mark the story about how her sister died, saying that it’s her fault. She claimed that the shock of seeing her made her sister become distracted, leading to her death. Later, Toadie shared that he felt the same way with Dee – all this time until recently, he blamed herself for her “death.” He advised Dee to do the same – to try to accept her sister’s death and that she’s not responsible for it.

Steph bumped into Victoria and the two spent time together again when their dates stood them up at the last minute. It turned out that Mark decided to go on a long drive with Sonya, in an effort to take her mind off Dee and Toadie. Sonya opened up to Mark about her fears about Toadie choosing Dee over her. Mark reassured her that she’ll always be Toadie’s great love and that trumps anything. Sonya thanked him and gave him a hug.

Meanwhile, Ned and Lauren were discussing about organising a barbeque and when she casually mentioned that Paige can’t eat prawns, Amy butts in and jokingly asked if it’s because she’s pregnant. Ned and Lauren were speechless, and their silence made Amy – and Jack, who’s there as well – realise that Paige is indeed pregnant. Later, Jack went to confession, expressing his hopes that he’s the father of Paige’s baby.

Amy, on the other hand, immediately confronted Leo, thinking that he’s the dad. He insisted that nothing happened between him and Paige, but Amy didn’t seem to buy it. Amy then went to talk to Paige, saying that she heard the news. She promised not to say anything and offered some help from one single mum to another. Amy mentioned that she talked to Leo, assuming that he’s the dad, but Paige set her straight and confirmed that Leo’s not the dad and nothing even happened.

Later, Jack confronted Paige and asked if he’s the father and she said no. She left and headed straight to the hospital to talk to David. Paige was feeling flustered with everyone asking who the father was. David then made a shocking offer – he’ll pretend to be her baby’s father.
