New 5.5 iPhone 6 Release Date Confirmed Pre-Order on September 12 Plus New Killer Features
Apple's September 9 press event has been set with invitations already released. The question now boils down to when people can actually access the device. According to analysts, at least one of the two models, 4.7 or 5.5-inch, will hit stores around September 19. Consumers do not seem to mind this as people have started preparing and lining up at Apple's New York store on Fifth Avenue. Latest information also places the pre-order to start on September 12.
There has been so much hype around the iPhone 6 that despite the September 9 event, people have already started setting up camp in front of Apple's Fifth Avenue store in New York. According to Yahoo, Dan Benton, a tech investor, tweeted a photo early September 3 with people in front of the store as early as six days before the announcement.
According to Business Insider, if Apple will follow a similar timeline as with other iPhone releases then the device will hit stores ten days after the announcement - around September 19. From the time Apple started revealing its iPhone every Tuesday of September in 2011, mobile update support gets launched the week after around Wednesday. Likewise, the actual handsets hit stores Friday which is two days after the mobile support. Given Apple's even on the 9th, the iOS 8 should be revealed on September 17 with the iPhone store drop on September 19.
Apple has a very specific way of attacking its releasing without forgetting about the hype. The idea is that Apple likes to wait it out following their product announcement to build even more hype. This is beneficial for the company especially when it comes to pre-orders. As with the name, pre-orders go live a few days before the store drop. Business Insider notes that iPhone pre-orders are likely to go up on September 12. This gives Apple a week to collect orders and attract enough interest to drum up sales.
One catch though, the Cupertino-giant needs to address the recent massive celebrity nude hack that hit the internet. Although people lining up the New York Apple Store may be a good indicator of the iPhone 6's potential, still, analysts believe Apple has some thinking to do especially when celebrities like Kirsten Dunst criticizes the company publicly. It can be damaging or worrisome for companies like Apple if its brand gets mixed up with celebrity controversies - this time possibly one of the biggest celebrity nude hacks yet. There is now concern whether Apple can sustain its predicted biggest launch yet versus one of the most controversial leaks today.
Earlier reports pointed a security flaw in the Apple's Find My iPhone feature claiming the program is not built to withstand brute force attacks. Apple's reported deal with American Express will also put the iPhone 6 on a new category allowing people to complete financial transactions like never before. AppleInsider reported the near-field communication chip to be included in the phone allowing a mobile payment system. The upcoming e-wallet system will get rid of physical credit card revolutionizing smartphone use.
