Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners can now update their devices to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and enjoy all-new features such as improvement multitasking, new power-saving tools, smoother response and new graphics driver.

AOKP For Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware is based on AOKP custom ROM, which includes additional features on top of default Android KitKat changes.

Requirements

1. For unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 2 only.

2. Create a manual backup of all personal information and data files stored on the phablet.

3. Make sure that the battery level is at least 50 percent to avoid power interruption during installation.

4. Enabled USB debugging mode on your Galaxy Note 2 found in Developer Options.

5. Download the necessary USB drivers for your device on the computer.

6. Root the Galaxy Note 2 and install a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod recovery.

7. Download the AOKP Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Google Apps package to your computer. Select from the list of firmware below appropriate for your Galaxy S3 model:

a. GT-N7100 GSM-LTE

b. AT&T Model

c. Sprint Model

d. T-Mobile Model

e. Verizon Model

Warning: Installing custom Rom may damage your Galaxy Note 2. We are not responsible for any errors which may occur. Read and follow the instructions carefully to avoid damage the device. Do this at your own risk.

Flashing Instructions

1. Connect your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to the computer using a USB cable.

2. Copy and paste the appropriate firmware for the model and Google Apps package to the microSD card of you device. No need to extract the zip files.

3. Disconnect your Galaxy Note 2 from the computer.

4. Turn off the phablet.

5. Reboot into recovery mode by pressing and holding power + menu + volume up keys at the same time till the Samsung logo appears.

6. Inside the recovery mode, create a nAndroid backup of the current ROM. Select "backup and restore > backup." You may restore it anytime.

7. Perform a full wipe on the Galaxy Note 2. Select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" then go to "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."

8. Install the AOKP Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Select "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > look for the firmware you've pasted earlier > confirm installation." Apply the same with Google Apps package.

9. After the installation, go back to the main menu then select "reboot system now."

Your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will reboot and you should wait at least 5 minutes until it reaches the home screen.
