New 'Batman: Arkham Knight' DLC for September includes Nightwing story 'GCPD Lockup' and 'Crime Fighter Challenge Pack'
Warner Bros. and game developer Rocksteady have announced some of the September downloadable content, or DLC, coming to “Batman: Arkham Knight.” The DLC includes new AR challenges for Batman and his allies as well as a solo story mode for Nightwing, who will be taking on The Penguin. The timing of the news is fitting, as the 1989 Batmobile pack and the Bat-Family Skins Pack have just been released for Season Pass owners.
The AR Challenges will be part of the upcoming “Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #1,” which will be released on September 1. Players will be able to choose between Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman in a number of challenges that will test the player’s skills in free-flow combat and predator stealth. Since this is called the “Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #1,” it seems like a second pack will be coming, possibly with DLC characters like Batgirl and Harley Quinn.
According to IGN, Nightwing’s new story mode is called “GCPD Lockup” and is set after the earth-shattering events from “Arkham Knight.” The story pack will have the former Robin making sure that The Penguin stays put in his cell while taking on a number of thugs who will attempt to break him out.
One of the bigger DLC packs coming to “Arkham Knight” seems to be the “2008 Tumbler Batmobile Pack” based on the vehicle that appeared in the “Dark Knight” trilogy from Christopher Nolan. Much like the “1989 Batmobile Pack,” this will come with two themed tracks based on the Christopher Nolan movies. This version of the Batmobile was also teased at the end of the trailer below.
The only thing not confirmed is a possible character skin based on the Batman suit worn by Christian Bale. It would seem fitting, since the “1989 Batmobile Pack” comes with the costume Michael Keaton wore for the Tim Burton movies.
Coming Soon has also confirmed that the original costume from “Batman: Arkham Asylum” will round out the September DLC. The skin joins a myriad of other costumes that Batman has worn over the years in his war against crime.
All of the DLC will be available to those who purchase the $40 “Arkham Knight” season pass. The only exception seems to be those with the PC version of the game, as it continues to be plagued with a number of bugs.
