New ‘Battlefield’ in the works, confirms DICE development director

After releasing “Star Wars Battlefront” for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, developer DICE is looking to keep themselves busy yet again with the announcement of a new title in development. After rumours about “Battlefield 5” surfaced last week, DICE has confirmed that it is indeed working on a new entry in the hit first-person series.
DICE’s development director Dan Vanderlind confirmed on Twitter that a new “Battlefield” game is in the works. He said that the developer is moving on from “Star Wars Battlefield,” and that it is ready to shed some new light on the series yet again.
“Now that we've shipped Battlefront and a part of the team continues to work on it, I am moving on to another project, the next Battlefield,” said Vanderlind.
“Star Wars Battlefront” launched last month and DICE is still looking to release more DLC for the game. With the news of a new “Battlefield” in the works, DICE could shift majority of their workforce into developing the new title.
Not much is known about the upcoming “Battlefield” title but it is sure to once again take the core aspects of what made previous titles a hit. These core gameplay mechanics include a huge and fully-destructible map, an array of land, air and sea vehicles, huge multiplayer battles and a big arsenal of weapons.
Rumours of a “Battlefield 5” begin last week when a Reddit user discovered a notable IMDB listing. The discovery was made after the Reddit user reached the IMDB page of Steve Jablonsky, a composer for “Gears of War 2.”
On the page of Steve Jablonsky, the Reddit user spotted that the composer is listed for “Battlefield 5: Armageddon.” Along with the listing is a short summary of the title which sees the protagonist who is in a battle at Japan, and whose main goal is getting back to his family and friends back home.
