Google has announced its Android L platform during its developer conference but with limited details. This time, new leak shows the Android OS to be possibly named as Lion with new features. Google may be partnering with Nestle in the process thus the chances of the new name. A roundup of the leaks, predictions and announcements about the mobile OS should give people a good insight on what to expect from the next primary Android update.

There has been no official word whether Google plans on releasing the Android L platform based on the 4.5 or 5.0 number series. Several reports noted that it may be time for the tech giant to switch to the Android 5x serial for major changes in the OS. According to TK Tech News, it is also possible Google will go for 5.0.

The site also noted that Google may name the next Android update as Lemon Meringue Pie. It goes along the name category of previous updates like Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich and KitKat. However, PC Advisor reports that Google may partner with Nestle once more. This may prompt the company to change the name of the update to Android Lion. The latest leak from EMTLeaks, shows a device listing with the Nexus 5 (2014) running on Android 5.0 Lion. The new Android details were sighted from GFXBench.

Other details revealed in the test include the Nexus 5 (2014) 5.2-inch display offering 2560 x 1440 pixels, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz, 32GB internal memory, 3GB RAM, 12MP primary camera and 2MP front camera.

According to BGR, benchmark leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt. Screenshots of results can turn out to be fake. The report compares the screenshot to the results posted on the GFXBench website. They appear to reflect the same scores. The results were also compared with the Manhattan tests of Nexus Devices.

Three main features of the Android L highly expected include material design, battery saver and new multi-tasking function. Material design includes new navigation buttons and new icons. Notifications are also enhanced because users can access them via the lock screen. People can decide which ones are relevant just by tapping on them. The battery saving feature, project Volta will help extend the life of devices. The feature lets users see how apps use the device's battery.
