New HTC Desire 610 Heading to AT&T on July 25 for $199.99; Killer Specifications and Features Listed
The new HTC Desire 610 is the latest addition to the Taiwanese manufacturer's mid-range handsets. The Desire 610 was unveiled in the Mobile World Congress 2014 and this handset can be availed from AT&T starting July 25 for $199.99.
AT&T has listed HTC Desire 610 as "coming soon" in its Web site. Also, the HTC Desire 610 on its release date will be priced at $199.99 without contract. Moreover, the phone is also available under contract for $10 or $8.34 per month on AT&T's 12 and 18 month plans respectively.
It is worth noting that HTC Desire 610 is priced at €300 (that roughly translates to $405) in Europe. However, the U.S. version comes with $199.90 price tag and hence it is quite a bargain, according to GSMarena. In addition, potential buyers can also opt for GoPhone HTC Desire 610 from AT&T for $199.99. For those unfamiliar, "GoPhone" is AT&T's prepaid service.
When it comes to specifications, the HTC Desire 610 features a 4.7-inches "Super LCD" display bundled with a screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and a pixel density of 199 ppi. The handset is 9.6 mm thick and it weighs 143.5 g. The device is powered by a superior quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. In addition, the phone houses 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage with microSD card for further expansion.
The Desire 610 sports an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera unit and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing shooter. The device runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat along with HTC's Sense 5.5 UI and packs a good 2,040 mAh battery unit.
Along with the support to standard connections like Bluetooth, 2G /3G/4G LTE, GPS/GNSS, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi, the handset also supports NFC. Other specifications include front-facing HTC BoomSound speakers, social media curator HTC BlinkFeed, movie maker Zoe, and nano-sim support, says AT&T.
Notably, the inclusion of 4G LTE and microSD card support on the entry-level HTC Desire 610 handset is a game changer. Also, the HTC Desire 610 is expected to compete with the killer Motorola Moto G and the Huawei Ascend Mate 2, according to Anand Tech.
