A new iPad with 12.9-inch screen display may be coming in late 2014, according to a report from DigiTimes.

Rumours claimed that Apple will be releasing a new tablet with a larger screen display is coming early next year but a recent report debunked the early rumours saying that it could be a year before we see another Apple's tablet. The report added that Apple is aiming at the education and business sectors as its main target market for such device.

DigiTimes stated that Apple chose Quanta Computer to manufacture the larger iPad and that the device will be mass produced on the second half of 2014. The report also said that the larger iPad will be produced in limited quantities because it is not a mainstream device. Quanta is expected to encounter several challenges in terms of industrial design and assembly when making the large-size iPad. Also, it seems that Apple is testing the waters on how the consumers will receive the new screen size of iPad.

This is not the first time that a rumour on a larger iPad emerged online. In July, Wall Street Journal first hinted on Apple's plans in revealing a larger iPad with a display that is "slightly less than 13 inches diagonally."

This is followed by reports claiming that Foxconn is reported to be testing new, large-format iPad with the purportedly king-sized device slated to debut on spring next year. Apple Insider cited Pad News saying that the tablet would sport a display diagonal of either 11.4 or 12.9 inches and is in an advanced stage of testing. The Web site also stated that Apple could be targeting a March 2014 unveiling.

Analysts also backed up the claim, Nomura analysts believe that Apple is working on either a 12-inch iPad or a detachable MacBook Air. They believed that the device will boast a Retina display and possibly use Apple's own A8 processor with 64-bit ARM architecture. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, on the other hand, predicted that Apple will release several new products in mid-2014, including a 12-inch MacBook with Retina Display in an entirely new form factor.
