New iPad 6 Concept Features Transparent Glass Panel and 3D Camera
The iPad 5 release date has not come yet, but a concept image of its successor, the iPad 6, already surfaced online.
A new concept of the sixth generation of iPad that is supposed to be coming next year boasts a transparent, glass panel and 3D camera.
The concept was from Deviantart member geek3dfr who imagined the iPad 6 design. The concept features a metal slab in the upper and lower sides of its panel. The metal slab contains the FaceTime camera and Home Button.
It is very likely that this futuristic design of the iPad 6 will include miniscule components that are hidden on the non-transparent areas on the tablet.
This is not the first time that a transparent iPad concept emerged. Early this year, Ricardo Alfonso also made an iPad Mini concept with similar transparent, glass design. Alfonso's concept also has a metallic slab on top and bottom that houses the camera and home button of the device.
iPads are quite known for their solid aluminium body that is lightweight yet durable. Replacing the conventional build of the iPad with glass will make the device a lot fragile and easily broken after a smash. Apple fans may shy away from the product because of this.
Meanwhile, the iPad 5 is rumoured to be released on Oct 15 alongside the iPad Mini 2, MacBook Pro 2013 with Haswell processor and OS X Mavericks. The date came from French Web site MacGeneration but is still unconfirmed.
It is speculated that the iPad 5 features include a thinner and slimmer design resembling that of the iPad Mini. According to rumours, Apple's 10-inch tablet will also feature a faster 64-bit A7 processor chip and a separate M7 GPU chip. The device will also feature the new Touch ID fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button just like the iPhone 5S for added security.
Other features include large internal storage of up to 128 GB and 5 MP rear camera just like the previous iPad 4.
