A new app for the iOS devices called "Parallels Access" allows users to control their Windows or Mac PC applications remotely. The app allows the users to stream videos, access business applications and play games installed on their PC.

The app claims that even a low bandwidth connection will not hinder the user experience while using the app.

Any application on the users' PC can be launched from an iPad using the app, sitting miles away. The user can work on the application in full screen mode. Multiple applications can be opened and worked on by the user and there is no restriction of using only one application on the computer at a time. The user can switch between the multiple open applications on the computer with a simple tap.

Text and files can be copied and pasted within different applications on the computer. The copy and paste can also be done on the iPad from the computer.

The iPad has a smaller screen compared to a desktop computer. Many of the desktop applications may not be convenient for users to work on from an iPad. To overcome this problem the app uses the "iPad magnifying glass" to make it easier for customers to use the applications installed on the desktop.

All the iPad functionalities like - tap, pinch, swipe and scroll work on the desktop via the app. Even the desktop function of a mouse click can also be performed from the app.

There is also a virtual keyboard for typing and making changes in documents. The keyboard comes equipped with a "Windows key."

The performance of the app on a smaller iPad mini is not known. The app was launched on Aug 28 and is available for purchase at the iTunes web site.

The concept of remotely controlling the desktop is not new but this product from Parallels has got some great reviews by the users. The cost of a Parallels account is on the heavy side with about $80 per year.

The company started operations in the year 2000. The company now has over 900 employees and has a customer base in over 130 countries.
