The developer behind “Mass Effect” has shared new details on their upcoming massively multiplayer online roleplaying game, or MMORPG, based on the series. The new “Mass Effect: Andromeda” details include combat mechanics as well as the story of the game.

Senior development director Chris Wynn took to Twitter and said that the combat of “Mass Effect: Andromeda” will be similar to that of “Mass Effect 3.” He added that there will be some new elements added to the previous combat system, but players of “Mass Effect 3” will reportedly still note the resemblance between the two games. Fans will have to wait for a while to see how the game plays, as Bioware said that it will not be releasing a gameplay video anytime soon.

Wynn also said that players will not see any familiar face in the upcoming title from previous "Mass Effect" games. He stated that seeing characters from the series would not make much sense to the story. However, when asked about whether or not minor characters will make an appearance, Wynn said that they are still unsure since the game is still in early development. Gamespot previously reported that the protagonist of the trilogy would not be present in the game, so it is highly unlikely that his allies will be present in the game as well.

Although "Andromeda" will not have returning characters from previous "Mass Effect" games, VG247 reports that it should still feel familiar to fans of the series. Wynn said that "Andromeda" will relate to the first three games because of the races and other factors in the game.

Wynn also hinted that there will be new races added to the game and that fans should be prepared for a competitive multiplayer mode, as Wynn implied it via Twitter. Andromeda launches in fall 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
