New Nexus 7: Did Google Discreetly Give Users a Quick Look to its New 7-in Tablet? [VIDEO]
Did Google treat its users to a quick look at the upcoming New Nexus 7? A popular tech forum site raised the question. Watch the video and play a little game called "I Spy."
The New Nexus 7 could have made a discreet world greeting when Google updated its users about some Street View project developments. The update came in a video clip, in which a curious small tablet was spotted by an Android sleuth.
The Street View feature video includes eye-level views through New York City, allowing travel enthusiasts a virtual trip at the Central Park and the 9/11 Memorial. Cory Gunther of Android Community noted "an interesting device in their video."
Gunther suspects the interesting device he has spotted could have come out the HTC manufacturing centre. "This could just be a random device, of course, but it looks like an HTC-made Nexus tablet if you ask me," he writes. However, it has been widely rumoured that the new Nexus 7 will be delivered by Asus again.
Many gadget watchers were disappointed by the no-show of the new Nexus 7 at the recent Google I/O event. Still, analysts said there is no reason to believe Google will not release a refresh this year. The Nexus 7 remains a favourite among Android device users for its good specs and value for money.
Sources speaking to DigiTimes have reportedly said Elan Microelectronics has begun shipping touch-screen controllers for a new Nexus 7. "In addition to shipping touch controller ICs for the Nexus 7, Elan will also ship comparable parts to Lenovo and Japan-based tablet makers in the third quarter," the tech site reported.
The new Nexus 7 is rumoured to sport a screen display that will rival iPad mini 2's anticipated Retina display. Unlike its predecessor, the new Android tablet will reportedly come with a rear camera (5MP).
