New PS4 Consoles Reported and PlayStation Now Gets Security Improvements
A new and improved version of the PS4 may be in the works, if a new report spotted is any indication of Sony's future plans for its next-gen console.
DualShockers has spotted a new filed registration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, pinpointing to a CUH-1106A new model.
It seems to have a slightly different name to what already exists in Asia for the PS4, which is the model CUH-1006A. According to the report, this may be a slight change, as opposed to the shift seen from the PS3 slim to super slim.
Adding to this another possibility where a new PS3 redesign has also been speculated to come at E3 2014, as fans start talking about it via NeoGAF.
"Walmart has none in stock right now. Neither does Gamestop. Amazon has them, but they all appear to be sold from 3rd party sellers at a markup price. Target doesn't have any in stock either," said Vanilalite, a NeoGAF forums member.
"With the base model virtually MIA across the board, does this mean Sony has stopped making the model? If so, are they giving up on the PS3 for PS4 adoption or could this mean the finally much often rumoured cell shrink for a new PS3 model is incoming at E3?"
The latter speculation would definitely be news for Sony's arena at the E3 2014. Considering that Microsoft is on a roll with a number of announcements for the Xbox One, and with the teaser for its "Halo 5: Guardians" already making a buzz, Sony would need a good punch for a repeat of its performance from last year's E3.
PlayStation Now to Get Improvements in the Future
The PlayStation Now has not only expanded to a PS4 Private Beta program, but it will also be looking at expanding its current Private Beta availability on the PS3. Because of this, it seems that Sony is working hard to improve certain features of the service.
Gamingbolt has spotted a number of job listings that seem to be targeted towards the improvement of the Gaikai-based service.
One of these job listings involve a Service Reliability Engineer, a position that will be in charge of the new features that can be added and be rolled out for the service. For improving security, Sony is also hiring for a Principal Security Infrastructure Engineer, responsible for the backbone of "protecting stateless sessions streams," which the report suggests to be a possibility of removing lags for game streaming.
There's also a job listing for a position that will tackle the bugs found during the PlayStation Now beta trials. All of these are going on in the background, but if you do want to take part in the PlayStation Now Private Beta, Sony has stated that there is still a way to register your interest, by checking out one of the recent blog on the PS4 Private Beta via the PlayStation Blog.
