New Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 L Killer Features, Encryption and More
Google confirms a new automatic encryption data mechanism on the upcoming Android 5.0 L platform matching Apple's iOS 8. Two of Samsung's latest flagship will also be receiving the Android 5.0 L later this year. What should people expect?
Google's Android L update marks the company's major departure from its traditional mobile OS platform to a more revolutionized system. According to the company's announcement during its I/O conference, the upcoming OS platform will feature a completely revamped UI, more focus on better life, fluid animations and 64-bit support.
Google's move will prevent further prying into people's personal data. According to the Washington Post, Android started offering the encryption service on an optional basis in 2011. This time, Google wants to activate the procedure across Android devices with the new update. People can only access files and other data communicated if they have the device's password.
"For over three years Android has offered encryption, and keys are not stored off of the device, so they cannot be shared with law enforcement," Niki Christoff, the company's spokeswoman said. "As part of our next Android release, encryption will be enabled by default out of the box, so you won't even have to think about turning it on." Christoff said.
It is also part of Google's attempt to increase its product's resistance to government spying.
In line with the release of the Android L platform, Samsung has also been working with Google to release Android updates as early as possible. The Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 will be one of the first ones to receive the new Android firmware around this November or December according to Sam Mobile. According to the report, the latest Samsung information suggests that the company should be quick to adapt and rollout whatever Google will be putting out.
Sony, HTC, Motorla and LG are also in line to release their update plans to the upcoming OS.
