New Samsung Galaxy S5 Concept Inspired by PRO Tablets; Ditches Home Button

A new Samsung Galaxy S5 took inspiration on the recently released line of PRO tablets as it ditched the menu button.

Despite the patent leak that hinted some of the possible specs and features of Samsung Galaxy S5, designer Pheonix Pham created a unique render that showed off an edge-to-edge screen display. The noticeable change is that it took away the home button just like the latest line of tablets released by the company.

Moreover, the smartphone has nice curved edges. Pheonix Pham's design is a way of increasing the size of the screen panel without increasing the overall size of the handset. Samsung Galaxy S4 is already big to fit in pockets. If Samsung will further increase the screen display of its next flagship phone, it has to find a way to keep its size fit the hands of users.

The only problem in this render is that it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S5 becomes vulnerable and more prone to scratch and glass shattering. But this could be fixed by Samsung by making a rugged version.

Samsung Galaxy S5 release date is speculated to be held next month on or before the Mobile World Congress. This is supported by the confirmation from Samsung's executive Dong-hoon Chang that the company will release a new flagship phone next month. Taking hint from previous Samsung Galaxy S releases, the company will most likely hold its own launching event ahead MWC 2014.

Samsung has not confirmed yet about the official specs and features of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5. However, according to reports, Samsung is working on qHD screen displays with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution; 64-bit Exynos octa core processor and iris scanner. Other Galaxy S5 features that consumers can also expect are 16 MP ISOCELL back camera and 4 MP front facing camera, 3 GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU and longer battery life. The handset may run with either Android 4.4 Kitkat OS or the rumoured Tizen OS.
