New Windows OS Is Not Windows 9, Microsoft To Launch Windows 10 As New OS Build
Since last year, the rumours coming from multiple sources claimed that the Windows 8 OS will be replaced by Windows 9 which is codenamed as Windows Threshold. However, Microsoft has officially revealed that the next version of Windows OS will be called Windows 10.
According to Terry Myerson, who works as executive VP of operating systems with Microsoft claims that the Windows 10 IS will support a wide range of devices and offer customized experience on whichever device a user may use.
Windows 8 was released in Oct 2012. It replaced the popular Windows 7 OS. Windows 8 brought live tiles feature and remove many important features of predecessor version like Start Menu. When users started their Windows 8 PC, they were not greeted with the good old Desktop screen but were directed to live tiles screen.
According to CNET, Microsoft wanted the Windows 8 to work seamlessly on touch-enabled devices like tablets and laptop along with desktop PCs. Since the launch of Windows met with mixed reaction from the users, Microsoft introduced the Windows 8.1 update that brought back important features like Start Menu.
Now, the time has come to replace the Windows 8 OS with the all new Windows 10 OS. On the official Windows blog, it is mentioned that new build is the 'most comprehensive platform ever.'
According to The Verge, Windows 10 will appear more or less like Windows 7. It will be a combination of Windows 7 and Windows 8. The Metro start screen from the Windows 8 and the conventional Start Menu from Windows 7 were combined.
The Live Tiles feature of Windows 8 will be also available on Windows 10. The tiles can be resized according to the preference of user. It will also bring the new feature of 'virtual desktops' that will allow users to create and switch between desktops easily.
