New York Yankees' Alex Rodriguez Predicts Decision Win For Floyd Mayweather Over Manny Pacquiao
Other sports stars are also interested in the big fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao this coming May and some of them like Alex Rodriguez, a Major League Baseball, or MLB star have shared their opinion on who they think will win the bout in Las Vegas.
"My call, which doesn't mean anything, I would say Mayweather in a decision, 12 rounds," Rodriguez said in a boxing radio show on Thursday as reported by newsday.com. Rodriguez’s prediction of a decision win for the undefeated American echoes the opinion of tennis star Andy Murray, who also said earlier this week that he sees Mayweather beating Pacquiao if the fight goes to the judges’ decision.
Rodriguez, who is an American like Mayweather, also said in the radio show that he’s going to watch the Mayweather-Pacquiao, most likely in pay-per-view because the baseball season have started by that time, just like other fans who waited long enough for the fight to happen. Rodriguez also described Mayweather as a “very smart businessman” and that he respects Mayweather.
Rodriguez, popularly known as “A-Rod” with baseball fans has played third baseman and shortstop for the New York Yankees since 2004. He also had stints with the Seattle Mariners from 1994 to 2000 and the Texas Rangers from 2001 to 2004. Like Mayweather and Pacquiao, the 39 year old Rodriguez has been successful in his sport being named as MLB All-Star 14 times in his career. He has also won a MLB World Series title with the Yankees in 2009 and was named the American League Most Valuable Player three times in his career in 2003, 2005 and 2007.
The Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao fight is scheduled on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States and the bout is dubbed by many as the “Fight of the Century”.
