After the launch of its 64-bit processors in 2013, rumors emerge Qualcomm is working on a chipset that can immensely make a difference on how 2015 smartphones perform.

This did not last for long with Qualcomm revealing its next-generation Snapdragon 810 and 808 processors that can make every handset faster and better.

The introduction of these new processors has been confirmed by a press release article provided by Qualcomm in its Web site on April 7. It said the processors are Qualcomm's "highest performing platform to date" completing the American chipmaker's roster of 64-bit and LTE ready processors for superior mobile computing experience.

Highlighted Features

Similar to its predecessors, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 and 810 use ARM CPU IP. They integrate Qualcomm Technologies' 4th Generation Cat 6 LTE Advanced to allow speed of up to 300 Mbps.

Qualcomm has Snapdragon 810 as its most powerful processor ever supporting:

  • Superior camera functionality with advance imaging software that allows better performance of features such as UbiFocus, ChromaFlash and HDR recording.
  • More efficient video recording with a graphics processor that renders 4K videos at 30 frames per second and 1080p video at 120 frames per second.
  • Allows faster CPU performance while reducing power use of up to 20 percent.
  • It comes with high speed LPDDR4 memory that allows programs to run faster while saving battery life.
  • Implements Qualcomm® VIVETM 2-stream 802.11ac for devices' faster Wi-fi performance.

Meanwhile, 808 is a bit down compared to 810 when it comes to features, but still is powerful enough to power a next generation smartphone. Notable features include:

  • LPDDR3 memory with 20 nm technology manufacturing process for optimized performance and increased battery efficiency.
  • Adreno 418 GPU.
  • 12-bit dual ISP.
  • Designed for display resolution of 2560 x 1600 with up to 20 percent increased graphic performance.

Mobile users who are very particular with their phone's specifications and recently bought the newest flagships of various phone manufacturers may have something to regret after this release. According to Qualcomm, sampling of Snapdragon 810 and 808 are expected to begin in the second half of 2014 and may be integrated on the new mobile devices in 2015.

With smartphones and tablets containing 810 and 808 processors, users can expect more features, increased power and better mobile experience than ever.
