News Corp Australia CEO Julian Clarke To Retire End Of This Year
News Corp Australia CEO Julian Clarke has decided to step down after being two years in the service by the end of the year. He joined the corporation in August 2013, coming out of his retirement replacing the then CEO Kim Williams.
The corporation has announced that its chief operating officer Peter Tonagh has been given the opportunity to replace Mr. Clarke. Meanwhile the Australian reported that the current chief executive of APN News & Media (APN), Michael Miller, has decided to rejoin the corporation in a newly defined role and Ciaran Davis, heading the Radio Operations would act as his replacement. However, the date hasn’t been specified yet.
The reports of the appointments would be given to Robert Thomson, head of Global operations. Mr. Thomson stated that these changes in the operational structure of the company were imperative for expanding business in Asia while developing its existing businesses in Australia. He also acknowledged Mr.Clarke’s remarkable skills and paid a tribute to him.
The announcement was a response to the decisions of cutting jobs and closing of bureaus at Dow Jones, one of its subsidiaries. Severe tension dwells over the corporation as earning collapsed about 23 percent due weak information division.
Mr. Clarke congratulated Mr. Miller and Mr. Tonagh on their new appointment and stated that “Both will be working on the strategic direction of the company and putting in place the building blocks for our future.”
Adding to it, he further said that Peter would be responsible for his direct reports and Miller would be in charge of the expansion plans overseas. Both would be in a significant position in Foxtel, REA Boards and Fox Sports looking after investment. With regard to Mr. Davis, he would carry forward APN in an efficient manner.
