A new "leak" on Twitter claims that it is confirmed Asus-manufactured Nexus 10 2 will be going on sale soon. The user uploaded an image from the UK retailer “PC World.” The uploader reportedly works in the organisation.

The Nexus 10 2 is rumoured to be released on October 14 at Google's Big Bang event. The leak puts the price at £349.99. The other device expected to be launched at the same event is the Nexus 5.

Google choosing Asus marks a departure from Samsung. The previous generation of the device was made by Samsung. The company joins Apple in trying to reduce its reliance on Samsung for manufacturing.

Google is also expected to launch the highly marketed Android 4.4 KitKat, along with the Nexus 10 2. Google along with Hershey and Nestle have embarked on a large marketing campaign to promote the new operating system.

The new KitKat website is made to look like a Web site promoting smartphones. The Web site shows the KitKat as though it's a smartphone. The chocolates also come with promotional ads for Android like customers in some countries can win a Nexus 7.

The Nexus 10 2 is expected to feature a 1080p HD 10 inch screen, with a 2560 x 1600 resolution. It could come in the Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Analysts expect increased storage capacity.

The current Nexus 10 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, dual core A15 processor. In terms of memory it is rumoured to be 2 GB RAM and available in 16 GB and 32 GB variants. It runs on the 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Retailers have already dropped the prices on the previous generation Nexus 10. This is usually done to clear the stocks to make room for the new device about to be launched. The new device was expected to be launched at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, but did not do so.

Meanwhile the supplies of the Nexus 4 are running out leading to speculation that it may be discontinued. Click here to read about the Nexus 4.

Asus also manufactures the Google Nexus 7. If the Nexus 10 is added to its portfolio the partnership between the two companies is set to grow.
