Samsung is reportedly issuing its strongest iPad Air rival so far - a 10.5-inch AMOLED-laced tablet that will debut early January 2014, which could become the most-waited Nexus 10 2 release date.

Pointing to Korean publication ETNews as source, SamMobile revealed that the Galaxy maker is launching a full-sized tablet right before the 2014 CES, which kicks off on January 7. Apparently, this device is quite different from the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 2014 build.

Note too that the report did not identify the 10.5-inch slate with the Tab and Note line up so the speculations remain open on the circumstance surrounding this latest hardware thrust from Samsung.

Is it possible that this same device is the long-delayed Nexus 10 2 from Google? The answer could be YES and there are two reasons to support this supposition.

First, it is built by Samsung and perhaps Google thought it wise to stick with the South Korean device manufacturer, contradicting earlier that the next Nexus 10 is either a handiwork by Asus and LG.

Second, the soon-to-be-launched tab is being hyped as the first AMOLED slate from Samsung after a long break. According to Gotta Be Mobile, AMOLED is a signature Samsung technology that is famed for its stunning display rendition and efficient use of battery power.

"The contract ratio, colours and brightness are stellar and unmatched, and overall they're also extremely thin. Meaning these new displays could deliver one of the best and thinnest Android tablets to date," the same GBM report stressed.

Plus the likelihood is, the device will be powered by a 64-bit Exynos processing chip in the 8-core class, thus making it a clear iPad Air rival. For the hardcore Android fans, all the ingredients point to a definitive Nexus 10 2 candidate.

And why not? The iPad Air is attracting raves for its sleek and sexy build while packing considerable punch thanks to its 64-bit A7 chip and a battery that delivers up to 12 hours of intense use. With the 10.5-inch AMOLED tab from Samsung, Google can surely match or even exceed the fast-developing iPad Air juggernaut.

So it should be a huge payback, both for Google and Samsung, if the same rumoured tab will eventually morph into the Nexus 10 2.

Of course, no official word can be expected from both firms and that should be the case until such time either of the AMOLED-toting tab and the second Nexus 10 becomes reality.

If indeed Google and Samsung can agree on this matter, then the Nexus 10 2 is well positioned for a grand peek via the CES 2014 with the actual release date to follow shortly by late January or early February of the same year.
