Nexus 10 2 Release Date Real Soon as Google Play Store Re-Labels 1st Nexus 10 as ‘Coming Soon’?
Just when all hopes seem to fade out that the Nexus 10 2 release date will ever become a reality, Google appears to have a change of heart and suddenly tagged the first Nexus 10 at the Play Store as coming soon.
The turnaround, as reported by Gotta Be Mobile, was made after some months that the full-sized tab went out of stock, prompting Android watchers to conclude that it was silently retired. Or its replacement, the second Nexus 10, was on its way to the market.
Such whispers have been swirling since last year but 2013 expired and the tablet remains nowhere to be found.
Then talks of an 8.9-inch Nexus 8 came about, which led many to believe that the 10.1-inch vanilla Android slate has been scrapped.
But when everyone is just about to move on, Google again stirred the dwindling chatter by signalling that a full-sized Nexus tablet is touching down and real soon.
Now the question begs, will the Nexus maker resurrect a 2012-era device and make it compete with today's tablet builds?
There is no doubt that the first Nexus 10 is decent machine but looking at the current tablet market that is dominated by Apple's iPad Air, it seems out of place that Google would attempt to tussle with the competition with its thrust dependent on an ageing device.
The Air, for one, is a testament of power and beauty, which are qualities that the Nexus 10 will find it hard to match. Even the present crop of branded Android tablets will make it difficult for Google's marquee tab to elicit attention.
So the best bet when Google hinted at the start of April that a Nexus 10 is materialising soon is it will be a brand new product - one that is fully-capable to lure tablet shoppers and perhaps, deliver the killer punch.
And from the speculations that have been in circulation since last year, the Nexus 10 2 is a serious contender to Apple's tablet throne, likely packing a beastly CPU that is made either by Qualcomm (a Snapdragon) or NVIDIA (a Tegra).
The 10-inch display would sport a 2K screen resolution with pixel density of 299ppi plus enhanced camera combo and wireless connectivity from the previous build. Likely part of the upgrades too is a massive battery to better handle the impressive bump ups in specs and features and up to 4GB of RAM, that is if the processing architecture will be in 64-bit mobile computing class.
Should this latest Nexus 10 2 rumours pan out, release date could be via the Google I/O Developers Conference on June 24 and 25, in which case the tablet will showcase Android 4.5 or Lollipop.
