Google recently released Android 4.4 KitKat OS but two more versions are out to fix several bug issues and improve overall system performance. It is now available for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 and if you own one of them, here are the reasons why you should update now.

Android 4.4.1 KitKat

Google designed the Android 4.4.1 KitKat for LG Nexus 5 in order to fix and maximise the camera hardware of the smartphone. After reports of lagging camera snapper, Android 4.4.1 KitKat delivers enhancements to make Nexus 5 take pictures brighter and more vivid.

Google's Director of Engineering for Android, David Burke, told the Verge that Android 4.4.1 aims to fix the buggy, inconsistent camera of Nexus 5.

1. Auto-focus fix by mixing speed and image quality.

2. Particular balance in low-light and well-lit scenes.

3. Speeding up frame rate and quick reading of surroundings.

4. Fix on the motion blur.

5. New progress indicator in HDR+ mode

With Android 4.4.1, Nexus 5 can now shoot photos a second faster and enable users to control HDR+ mode using an indicator. Moreover, pictures are more contrasted to let colours pop-up on the images.

Unfortunately, the Android 4.4.1 KitKat version isn't something usable at this time among other Nexus and purely intended to fix Nexus 5's camera.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat

Another version with build number KOT49H is an Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS and it is currently rolling out to Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 devices. Unlike Android 4.4.1, this version affects all eligible Nexus smartphones and tablets for Android KitKat OS.

It brings the following changes on your Nexus device after installing the update:

1. Nexus 5 camera improvements still included

2. Fix for clearing the VM indicator

3. Fix for delivery of the VM indicator

4. Various additional software fixes

5. Security enhancements

You may download the new updates using the built-in updater inside your Nexus devices. Go to Settings > About device > Software updates > Check now, and then let the download to begin. Install the update once you have created a backup of all data files stored on your device.
