Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and other Nexus devices Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates are rolling out. Google Play Edition devices are expected to be updated shortly as well.

The new update appears to be a last minute patch to Android before the Google I/O 2014. Thus far, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update can be downloaded OTA provided that no previous rooting or ROM installation has been made. Users can check if they are eligible for the update by going to Settings > About device > Software update > Check update. It might take a week or so for the update to filter out OTA.

How to Install Android 4.4.4 (KTU84P) on Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 with Factory Image

1 - Download the Android 4.4.4 (KTU84P) Factory Image for Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.

2 - Connect your device to computer via USB cable.

3 - Make sure that the Fastboot is configured and installed correctly on your computer.

4 - Turn off your device.

5 - Boot your device into Fastboot or Bootloader Mode, Turn on the phone while pressing and holding Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons until the Fastboot menu and start appear.

6 - Extract the downloaded factory image file to the computer's desktop > browse the folder occam-KTU84P > copy and paste the files to the Fastboot directory.

7 - Execute the following commands using the factory image files in your Fastboot directory.

On Mac, run the file "flash-all.bat."

On Windows, run the file "flash-all.sh" using Terminal.

On Linux, run the file "flash-all.sh."

8 - After executing the commands, the factory image flashing process begins on your device. At this point, you just need to wait until the installation process completes or follow the instructions on the screen if you need to unlock the bootloader.

9 - The phone will reboot once the installation is done and it may take approximately five minutes for the first boot to be done. As such, it is recommended not to interrupt the process.

Your device is now running on official Android 4.4.4 KitKat update via the stock factory image from Google. To verify the firmware installed, you can go to Settings > About phone.
