Google will reportedly match Apple's 2014 release date plans for the next iPhones and iPads by unleashing not one but two versions of the Nexus 6 smartphone and a high-specced Nexus 8 with an 8.9-inch screen profile.

A new report by Phone Arena is suggesting that Motorola and Google are actually working on two handsets that could end up as Nexus 6 variants. The first will be a regular-sized kit at 5.2-inch and will be called the Nexus X.

The second will sport a massive 5.9-inch display panel that currently carries the codename Moto S or Motorola Shamu as mentioned in earlier reports. There were suggestions too that the Moto S is likely the first Android Silver device that is laced with superlative specs and killer features.

However, Phone Arena is floating the possibility of two Nexus phones to come out in the next few months. While the report did not mention, it can be assumed that the bigger Nexus 6 or X is designed to collide head-on with 5.5-inch iPhone 6 phablet.

Details about the device, save for its overstretched front panel, remain scarce at the moment.

The 5.2-inch Nexus 6 or X, on the other hand, is again the subject of the latest leaked information coming from TKTechNews that apparently provided key details about the device.

Per the report, the upcoming mobile phone will impress with a quad-core 2.7GHz Snapdragon chip and 3GB of RAM with a 13MP main shooter as one of its headline features. TKTechNews added that starting price for the Nexus 6 or X is $500 and the premium tag is justified by a capacious 64GB of internal memory.

Judging from the specs on paper, Google's sequel for the LG Nexus 5 seems a very able competitor of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 that will be powered by the combo of a 64-bit A8 processing chip and iOS 8.

It is expected that the two Nexus phones will also debut Google's Android L that recent reports indicate will be renamed Lemon Meringue Pie (LMP) or Android 5.0.

LMP will also give life to the rumoured Nexus 8 that is also referred to as Nexus 9 due its near 9-inch screen size.

In a separate article by TKTechNews, the blog site seemingly got confirmation that the Nexus 8 or 9 will be the first Android device to deliver the incredible power of 64-bit ARM processor. The stock Android slate is fuelled up out of the box by NVIDIA's dual-core 2.5GHz Denver Tegra K1 CPU, the report added.

With the NVIDIA chip inside, the Nexus 8 or 9 is assured of monstrous mobile computing capabilities plus the added benefits of high-energy efficiency, hinting of longer operating hours against its competitors.

As expected, Google's flagship tablet will regard the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 as its chief rivals.

The Nexus 6 or X release date is likely anytime in October while the Nexus 8 or 9 will follow immediately or specifically around November 2014.
