Nexus 6 Release Date Update: Moto X+1 Look Leaked, Nexus X or Shamu Moved to Demo Phase

The Nexus 6 release date is only a matter of few months or even weeks if reports are true and unsurprisingly as D-Day approaches more details or at least hints about the device are trickling down.

The latest indicator if a nearing Nexus smartphone arrival this 2104 is the fresh set of pictures that TKTech News showed off at the start of the week. The images purportedly to the final look of the Moto X+1, which by time is widely regarded as the strongest candidate to become the Nexus 6 or Nexus X as some blog reports label the device.

The shared photos revealed what appears as a giant Motorola flagship that showcased the familiar Android user interface - icons and screen configuration at the front panel. The screen is flanked by slim bezels on the left and side portion while sensors and speakers sandwiched the top and bottom part of the device.

At the back, a wood-textured covering serves as the battery protection with the rear camera lens and the familiar Motorola logo vertically sitting side by side at the centre portion, somehow interrupting the panel's timber-like finish.

According to TKTech, Motorola will also offer the X+1 in aluminum, leather, denim and carbon fiber back cover textures that echoes the personalization appeal of the first Moto X.

Another core feature of the handset is its pairing with the Moto 360 smartwatch that of course reminds of the upcoming iPhone 6 accessory - iWatch.

Yet while the X+1 appearance is pretty much defined by this latest leak and earlier release clues, Nexus fans know that what are seen so far will not necessarily translate into the definitive Nexus 6 or X outer build.

When repurposed, the Moto X+1 will at best extend the following inner specs to its stock Android sibling: a 2K display resolution and a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor that is tapped to 3GB of RAM.

But will Motorola really build the Nexus 6 or X? Phone Arena thinks Google and Motorola have a done deal on this respect as the tech blog site pinpointed a demo device that Motorola recently brought to India.

The kit that bears the model number XT1112 is labelled as a Shamu phone, which in the past weeks have been referred to as the Moto S or the bigger Nexus X variant that will boast of a 5.9-inch screen profile. The other variant is a virtual clone of the X+1 at 5.2-inch.

Aside from the tag price of around $580, no other details were gleaned from the report. Note, however, that if the XT1112 will turn out as the bigger Nexus 6 or X, the price given seems to make sense considering the device is a phablet.

The price point is also cheaper compared to the reported starting cost for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 that could go as high as $900 and up.

The Nexus 6 release date is pegged to be a 2014 Halloween affair, meaning the device is slated to go live between late October and early November likely alongside the HTC Nexus 8 or 9 with both gadgets powered by Android 5.0 or Lemon Meringue Pie (LMP).
