Nexus 7 Go on Sale As Nexus 7 2 August Release Date and Specs Detailed
Google's Nexus 7 2 has been making news the past few weeks, with speculations of its upcoming release now deemed eminent before Q3 is up.
The Examiner has talked to industry analyst Paul Mueller, who had said that the Nexus 7 2 is likely to release on the first week of August.
"Even though the colors on the screen are still washed out, the price tag is great," said Mueller to The Examiner. "However, don't expect a microSD card slot."
The mention of a lower price tag seems to corroborate past reports that state that the Nexus 7 2 will be likely to sell somewhere between $199 and $249 for a wifi-only model.
The specs so far
Is the Nexus 7 2 expected to be a great seller when it arrives? Some have been very optimistic, pegging an 8 million sale worldwide even before revealing the actual unit.
As for the specs, the Nexus 7 2 is expected to carry the Snapdragon 600 processor, a 7-inch 1980x1200 pixel resolution display and 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front cameras.
Given Mueller's thoughts on a still washed-on display screen, perhaps this will be the Nexus 7 2's compromise, given that the iPad Mini 2 is expected to have the retina display when it releases later this year.
This may not be the losing battle for the Nexus 7 just yet, considering how it changed the landscape of tablets since its release--though there have been problems cropping up with regard to the current Nexus 7, with a lot of lags and bricking becoming a major issue for uses.
Hopefully, Google has already dealt with these current problems in the next-gen device, so that Nexus 7 users won't be tempted to switch to the competitor Apple's side.
Nexus 7 on sale on Google Play Store
It seems that news about the Google Nexus 7.2 is spreading fast, but this may also be fueled by the fact that Google Play Store is now offering the Nexus 7 at a very good deal.
Pocket Now reports that the 16GB Nexus 7 Wifi is now offered at $200, while the 32GB Wifi Nexus 7 is out for $250.
But for those who can get them at Staples, you can save as much as $20 and $50 for the 16GB and the 32GB respectively.
The offer is time-limited though, but Google Play Store's deal is still ongoing, so you can expect that to last throughout the coming week.
