New Details & Release Date Rumours About Nexus 7 2 Come Out
Independence Day this year brought in a lot of price cuts and sales, and the Nexus 7 was one of the products that saw a major cut down on the price tag.
Gotta Be Mobile reports that the tablet is now sold at $50 below the price tag with which it was released with roughly a year ago. Two retailers, specifically Office Max and Staples, now offer the Nexus 7 at $199.99 for the 32GB version. The 16GB version is sold at $179.99, a full $20 lower.
Due to the price cuts, rumours are now going about that this will signal the introduction of the successor of the Nexus 7, though any of the leaks and speculations has yet to be confirmed by Google.
Save the date: July 11
July 11 seems to be a very hot date, not just for the Nexus 7 2 but also the Moto X phone, and speculations have already brought up an interesting point that this could mean that Google will reveal the two gadgets--or at least confirm production of said devices.
It is an opportune time at the moment as well, considering that there have been reviews from current Nexus 7 users that the Nexus 7 is becoming more of a lag than a fad as the device is starting to experience failures that make the device as worthless as a brick during crucial moments.
Whether or not Google is working on a way to fix it via update is not yet confirmed, but this could also serve as a fork in the road for the Nexus 7 2, especially if the next version's specs and features don't deliver.
Release date alongside another phone
There may be a double reveal for Google as previous reports show that media people have been invited for a conference for which the purpose has not yet been revealed.
PopHerald reports that this may actually be to reveal both the Google Nexus 7 2 and the Moto X phone, which has been touted as a flagship phone of Motorola, a company that has been recently bought by Google.
Following a string of ads and leaks, the Moto X phone is highly likely to go for a reveal soon. But with the Nexus 7 2, wherein there have also been leaks, the question is whether or not it will come alongside the Moto X.
The most recent leak of the Nexus 7 2 comes from an Asus representative over a live chat for technical support. Apparently, a customer had inquired about the Nexus 7 2 and the representative has revealed specs information as well as a release date of August.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the specs are true as there has not yet been any official word or advisory from Google or Asus regarding this matter.
But if PopHerald's report is true, then the Nexus 7 may really be going for an August release. And a combined reveal with the Moto X may not be far in the making as speculations and rumours have also pointed to the Moto X's reveal for an August date.
