Google appears to point its compass for explosive and successive Android-related events beginning in June 2014, likely culminating in Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 release dates set within the third quarter of the year.

As the Android world is already aware of, the 2014 I/O dev gathering will take place on June 24 and 25 and one big expectation from that occasion is the preview of the supposed KitKat 4.4 replacement (actually on 4.4.2 build already).

The latest buzz is, this Android will be build 4.5 but some chatters also floated the likelihood of Google closing its upcoming Android serving to 5.0.

But as the excitement builds up, the persistent question begs anew: What is the exact device that will display the new Android powers?

A new report from BGR suggests that it is a toss between the Nexus 6 smartphone and the 8.9-inch Nexus 8. Apparently, these two kits were again the subject of Internet sightings, the latest of which was revealed in a Chromium Code review.

While the new clue was short on details - no impressive specs and killer features to brag about - Android watchers are seemingly convinced on one thing, the next vanilla Android smartphone and tablet are all but confirmed and the rollout, simultaneous or separate, will soon follow.

To date, related leaks about the Nexus 8 nominate HTC, praised for its HTC One flagship series, as the strongest candidate to manufacture the 8.9-inch slate that reportedly is groomed to slug it solo with the Apple tablet duo of the iPad Air and iPad Mini.

The Nexus 6, on the other hand, is Google's way of skirmishing with the hero handsets of major like Samsung, Sony and including Apple that is rumoured to unpack two variants of the iPhone 6 in the coming months.

The prevailing storyline for now positions LG as the Nexus maker. The company, of course, was responsible for the Nexus 4 and 5 handsets and for the 2014 edition, it is widely assumed that the LG G3 is the base-model for the device.

So when is the big event that Google is prepping about?

To answer this, another clue surfaced in the United Kingdom where the 2013 Nexus 7 model is now stuffed with a £50 Gift Card that is redeemable from the Google Play Store.

The deal runs from May 5 to June 1 per the report from Android Central. But what is more interesting is this latest move from Google's retail partners imply that the task of clearing old Nexus device inventories is now underway.

The logical explanation for the promo-laden Nexus packages is to make room for new stocks that are arriving soon, experts said. In Google's case, it will be for the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 8.

And rumours fed by Asian supply chain suppliers indicate that production for both devices will commence in July this year.

That would mean release dates for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 are well-positioned to happen in the third quarter of 2014 though it remains to be announced by Google which of the two native Android-driven toys will come out first.
