The Google Nexus 7 has been in the market without competition for quite some time. Recently, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch tablet was launched proving to be the mighty Google Nexus 7's competitor.

Now that the Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch tablet is finally made available in the shelves, here are a couple of differences between the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HDX 7 that consumers need to know before they hit the market again.

Hardware

The Kindle Fire HDX 7 is easy on the eyes with its 1,920 x 1,200 full HD display. It features a unique lighting ability that keeps its battery life longer lasting up to 17 hours of standby time and 11 hours of mixed usage. The Kindle Fire HDX 7 can surely keep a user's hands busy with its impressive battery life.

On the other hand, the Google Nexus 7 comes with the same extremely impressive display as well plus the protection of the scratch-resistant Corning Glass. It offers users up to 9 hours of active use with its 3,950 mAh battery. The device also offers wireless charging.

With the specs under the hood, the Kindle Fire HDX 7 is undoubtedly the winner with its Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 GB of RAM compared to the older quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro of the Nexus 7. Also, in terms of speed, the Kindle Fire HDX 7 is ahead with its 2.2 GHz speed while the Nexus 7 is only at 1.5 GHz.

Although the processor difference won't matter much, the Snapdragon 800 is notably extremely efficient offering users more usage time than the Nexus 7.

Software

It goes without saying that with the Nexus 7, users are sure to get the latest Android OS first. Google will definitely make sure its Nexus line-up will get OS updates faster than any other Android device in the market.

The biggest difference between the two devices is the software. Well, the Nexus 7 is on Android 4.4 KitKat with on-going update to the 4.4.2 version already, while the Kindle Fire HDX 7 is a totally different story. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but it does not look like it, as it is crafted to suit Amazon's services and applications. It is made as the ultimate device for the consumption experience with Amazon instant video, games and Kindle reading features.

Camera

As tablets, the camera is not the most impressive feature of both devices, but it is worth noting that the Kindle Fire HDX 7 does not have a rear camera. As such, in this category, the Nexus 7 gets the point for having a 5 MP sensor rear camera.
