The search giant Google recently revealed its next-generation Android tablet, the Nexus 8. The company has leaked few images in its I/O conference Web site, which was later spotted by many tech Web sites.

Going by the leaked information, the build and the button location point to the original Nexus 10 tablet. Nevertheless, the spotted device looks a tad smaller than the 10 inches size requirement of Nexus 10. In addition, the bezels are not wide enough as they are seen on the original Nexus 10. Hence this new device could be the next Nexus 8 that the company is expected to unveil at Google I/O conference scheduled for June 25, 2014.

According to the available information, Google is working on the Nexus 8 tablet that is expected to come with an 8.9 inches display. And the device is being built by HTC and not Asus. The screen resolution is expected to be not less than 2,560 x 1,600 pixels range. This resolution translates to a pixel density of 339 ppi, which is slightly higher than the 323 ppi on the predecessor Nexus 7.

The Nexus 8, codenamed Flounder, will run on Google's Android 4.4.3. And the handset is expected to boast at least one speaker in the front.

Rhoda Alexander, director of tablet and monitor research at HIS Technology, had recently said that the upcoming Nexus 8 will be priced at more than $299 range.

If the rumors were true, the device will be powered by Intel's Atom-based (Moorefield) processing chip, clocked at 2.33 GHz and it would feature a PowerVR G6430 GPU. This chipset is expected to be more powerful than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 CPU.

The codename 'Moorefield' points to Intel's SoC, which is a quad-core 64-bit processor. During the MWC 2014 event, two versions of Intel Atom chipsets were revealed; the Intel Atom Z3560, clocked at up 1.8 GHz and the Intel Atom Z3580, clocked at 2.33 GHz, according to Trusted Reviews.

In addition to the enhanced graphics and faster memory that Nexus 8 could get by utilizing one of the aforementioned chipsets, the device is expected to use the same PowerVR G6430 GPU. This combination could deliver incredible gaming experience.

It is worth reminding that, the predecessor Nexus 7 (2013) is powered by the Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, while the Nexus 10 relies on a dual-core, Samsung Exynos processor.

Even though the announcement of the Nexus 8 is set for June, the tablet will only be released in July or August 2014, after the announcement of Android 4.5 or 5.0.
