Reports about the release of Google Nexus 8 started last week. According to recent information, Google plans on killing the Nexus 7 line in favour of the 8. The primary reason is stiffer competition in the 7-inch arena. Analysts believe there are fewer competitors in the 8-inch sector allowing Google to explore opportunities. With the release coming, what can people expect from the new slate?

According to recent reports, Google will be releasing a series of Nexus products this year including the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8. Compared to the Nexus 6, details about the specs of the Nexus 8 are not as available. Nonetheless, similar to other tech companies, watchers and observers are expecting Google to also have the tendency to use similar specs or configurations across all of its devices.

Looking at the reported specs of the Nexus 6 may give hints on what people can expect from the Nexus 8 tablet. According to Motoring Crunch, the Nexus 6 may be based on a Qualcomm CPU. The device will feature a Snapdragon 810. If this happens, the Nexus 6 will be running on a chipset that can rival Apple's A7 64-bit architecture.

The Google Nexus 7 2 sported a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4Pro, quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait and Adreno 320.

The Snapdragon 810 rumored for the Nexus 6 features eight cores. The A7 chip in the iPhone 5s does not run in the same way. Snapdragon will run the eight cores through four Cortex A53 CPUs and ARM Cortex-A57 CPUs. ARM's big.LITTLE config will control the system. This means it is possible to do scalable tweaks. The company can fine tune the performance of the device.

The Google Nexus 6 will also sport an Adreno GPU. If Google can push this, then the Nexus 6 will have superior display over the Nexus 5 (4.9-inch screen). The Nexus 7 2 came with an Adreno 320. It is highly likely Google will go for the same system with its Nexus 8.

Many consider the Nexus 7 series a success; thus, the confusion over Google's decision to kill it and switch to the Nexus 8. Analysts think it can be a good idea since the 8-inch market is not as saturated yet compared to the 7-inch sector. People will have to for Google's official announcement to know what to expect.
