The Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson still have a strained relationship as the star running back’s agent, Ben Dogra reportedly declined an invitation to meet with Minnesota’s general manager Rick Spielman, who earlier in the week announced that the franchise have no plans of releasing Peterson in this offseason of the National Football League.

According to an ESPN report on Friday, “a league source said Peterson's preference is to play for another team in 2015” which echoes earlier statements by Peterson that he would feel uneasy in returning to play for the Vikings in the upcoming season.

The talented but controversial Peterson was involved in domestic abuse charges before the start of the 2014 Season and has been suspended by the league but has since been reinstated. Peterson is one of the top running backs in the league despite the off the field issues. Peterson made the NFL Pro Bowl in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013.

Earlier in the offseason, the running back met with the Minnesota front office including Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer to discuss the situation between the two sides and the possibility of a return to the team. Peterson walked away from multiple meetings without a commitment for a return to the team.

During the height of the controversy and when the domestic abuse charges first surfaced, Peterson felt that the team did not support him enough during the legal battles and the star running back is also wary of how the public and media Minnesota will treat him if he returns.

Other NFL teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers and the Arizona Cardinals are reportedly interested in acquiring Peterson if they release him or put him on the trading block.
