Two reputable sports sites, CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports reported that Marshawn Lynch will return to play for the Seattle Seahawks in the 2015 season of the National Football League, or NFL. However, Lynch’s agent, Doug Hendrickson quickly denied the reports on social media saying that there is no final deal as of Saturday.

Jason L Canfora updated the Seahawks-Lynch contract situation on Twitter saying that a deal is in place between the two parties.

Meanwhile, Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports confirmed that the deal is done and that Lynch is set to be paid $11 million to $12 million for the first year and $9 million in the second year of a three-year contract. However, Hendrickson responded also on Twitter that there is no deal in place. Also according to Getlin, the Lynch’s agent met with Seahawks general manager John Schneider on Friday night and discussed the deal.

Over the weekend, Seattle head coach Pete Carroll stated in an interview that they are confident that Lynch will return to the team but that they are prepared for the eventuality that he retires. Schneider also said that they have a Plan B should Lynch not return to play for them in the upcoming 2015 NFL Season.

Last Feb. 14, Michael Robinson, who played with Lynch in Seattle and considered a close friend of “Beast Mode”, stated that the star running back is considering retirement although Robinson also said that he expects Lynch to return to the NFL but it won’t be because of the money. Lynch is considered as the top running back in the NFL in the past few seasons and has made the NFL Pro Bowl five times in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
