After weeks of speculation in the offseason in the National Football League, or NFL, star wide receiver has been officially applied the “franchise tag” by the team assuring he stays in Dallas for at least one season or the 2015 NFL Season. Bryant is set to earn $12.823 million after he signs.

NFL Insider for Fox Sports Mike Garafolo confirmed the expected move by the Cowboys on Monday.

Even days before the deadline for teams to tag players, there were already reports that the Cowboys are either working on a long-term deal with Bryant or use the franchise tag on him.

"I still think that it's probably, you know, would be a stretch to think that we would have something done by Monday and beat the franchise-tag deadline. Looks like we're eyeing a franchise tag on Dez, but certainly won't stop us from working hard to get a long-term deal.” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said last Saturday.

Both sides failed to agree on a long-term deal but Dallas will get back Bryant, who is one of the best wide receivers in the league. Bryant, the 24th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, had 1,320 receiving yards on 138 catches with 16 touchdowns for the Cowboys last season. He has made the NFL Pro Bowl squad twice, in 2014 and 2014 and was also a member of the NFL First Team All-Pro in 2014.

Bryant was one of the key players of the Cowboys’ good run to the postseason in 2014. Dallas won 12 of 16 games in the regular season to win the NFC East. Dallas won the wild card match-up against the Detroit Lions, 24-20 but lost in the divisional round match-up against the Green Bay Packers, 26-21 in the playoffs.
