Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev's romantic relationship may be over but their friendship is not. The "Vampire Diaries" actress remembered her ex and co-star's 35th birthday and sent a birthday greeting on Twitter.

Nina Dobrev posted on her Twitter account @ninadobrev: "Happy Bday Smouldy! Hope you had a beautiful day filled w/ smiles+gluten free cake!But not too much cake,we're on the CW :P @iansomerhalder." According to a Wet Paint report, it is not the first time for Nina to call Ian "Smouldy" since she already used the nickname back when the heartthrob actor congratulated her for the stunning Cosmopolitan cover last September.

Aside from the birthday tweet, Ms Dobrev shared as well to her followers an image that shows she does not mind buying food at In-N-Out-Burger while wearing an elegant Elie Saab gown. "I couldn't help it. I had to... Gown or not," the actress posted on Sunday, Dec 8, with this WhoSay photo attached.

An E!Online report claims the "Vampire Diaries" star felt like having some quick and delicious meal, so she decided to drop by the fast food restaurant and satisfy her cravings. Nina Dobrev can be seen in the image posing at the counter to place her order in the stunning dress with her right hand holding up a shoe.

As for Ian Somerhalder who celebrated his birthday, the 35-year-old actor expressed his gratitude on Twitter to the fans who greeted him and his mom, Edna, for giving birth to him. "Dear Mom, Thanks for pushing me out into this beautiful,magical&insane world to be challenged,loved and ALIVE..," Ian posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder.

"Thank you EVERYONE for all of these Birthday wishes-it's really special," read Ian's message to his fans The actor has asked the fans to show support for his 2013 Birthday Project with the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF).

Mr Somerhalder hoped that 1 million people of the 7 billion on the planet could donate $35 to his foundation in order to empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects that can have a positive impact to planet Earth and its creatures. Ian has not yet confirmed if his goal was met or not but the actor expressed he is really grateful to those who got involved.
