Nintendo NX design possibly hinted by Pokemon dev, more talks of hardware
The Nintendo NX carries quite a lot of hopes, not only of the developers, but also of Nintendo fans. It’s supposed to be a game-changer for the company, one that will deliver a new kind of experience in gaming.
From the looks of it, those who are privy to the device may deem this so. The Pokemon Company’s Tsunekazu Ishihara has spoken with The Wall Street Journal and basically confirmed one of the swirling rumours about the device.
He stated that the Nintendo NX intends to change how players understand what a home console and a handheld device are supposed to be. The mere mention of these two hardware designs in the same breath as the Nintendo NX does bring up more questions.
Does this mean that the Nintendo NX really is the two-in-one device that has been seen in several patents before? How will it fare as such, considering the current gaming landscape?
Ishihara had also teased that Pokemon will come to the Nintendo NX as a franchise, something that doesn’t really come as a surprise now. It would be interesting to see how developers will make use of the apparently dual design of the Nintendo NX as a gaming console-slash-handheld.
Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot shared his thoughts on how the Nintendo NX can change the pace of the game. According to GameSpot, Guillemot described the Nintendo NX device as a “fantastic machine,” and one that embodies the Nintendo brand.
“What we see is, players are more open when new hardware is coming. So we have the chance to come up with something we have never done before, because we know that if we are the first there, people will try our game and maybe we’ll be able to get into that new genre.”
The Nintendo NX will supposedly launch sometime in March 2017. Nintendo has yet to officially unveil the device.
