Nissan Wants a Faster GT-R with Nismo, Leaked Video of GT-R Testing Reveals it Might be the Fastest Car Ever
Nissan made a name in automotive with their GT-R series. Propelled to stardom and even auto hall of fame, the company's Skyline GT-R series made considerable impact both on the road and on track. Come early 2000, the Japanese auto giant redesigned the entire series to bring a new set of GT-Rs into the limelight. This year, Nissan revealed the upcoming Nismo series to be the fastest of all GT-Rs.
No doubt a GT-R is fast but if Nissan says they will release something faster, it is worth checking out. Last June, Nissan shared that Nismo engineers are preparing Nürburgring in under 7m 18s. This puts the latest car's lap record to shame. Despite its unofficial release, the new Nismo is already considered the upcoming King of the Ring Table.
Upon its release, the GT-R Nismo will also be faster compared to the GT3 from Porsche. The car recorded 7m 22s meaning Nissan's offering is as impressive as it already is. Plans for the new and impressive line of GT-Rs started a few months back during the announcement of the company's global HQ in Yokohama, Japan.
The company revealed plans for the legendary tuner indicating its participation in the next line of business for Nissan. "It would be unthinkable for us to develop a range of Nismo road cars without including the GT-R. The GT-R Nismo will be special," Nissan's CEO Carlos Ghosn said.
Nissan claims the new Nismo model will be the "hardest GT-R" ever. That means an impressive performance to watch out. Then again, the standard GT-R performance is already among the best so people can expect a lot from this upcoming series.
The company remains tight lipped about the specifics of the car. According to Nissan, the model is in its development phase but recently revealed video tells that the automaker may just be finished with the prototype. Previously, Nissan mentioned that the company is focusing on providing more power and better look to its line of vehicles.
Nissan already have three tuned cars in production: the Juke, the X and the Micra or March (only available in Japan for now). However, these are all just toys in comparison with the GT-R Nismo. Set to debut in 2014, the company claimed it will be the fastest car they will ever make yet in terms of road-legal applications.
Suffice to say, it is Nissan's most ambitious car. Check out the video showing the supposed test run for Nissan's latest monster.
