By June 2, 2013, BBM Music will be silenced forever. BlackBerry announced on Thursday that all paying customers will be billed for the last time for the device's music service in April, ZDNET reports.

By May, songs in playlists will become grey and will no longer be available, the Web site added, citing the CrackBerry.com.forum as the source of the news. The service was released by BlackBerry in 2011 which cost $5 a month.

To fill in the gap, BlackBerry recommended to current subscribers Rdio by offering them a 30-day pass.

However, the service is available only for BlackBerry unit owners with devices that are pre-BB10 OS. ZDNet recommended instead Slacker Radio.

To help the Canadian manufacturer of BlackBerry recover from sales slump as consumers shifted to iPhones of Apple, Samsung's Galaxy or other lesser known smartphone brands, BlackBerry is even invading the handheld units of rivals through takeover ads.

Mobile phone users, to be able to view the BBZ10's latest advert, would require them to navigate a specific Website (blackberry.com/glimpse) to participate in the interactive experience.

Another boost for BlackBerry would come from Export Development Canada which will provide a $256 million working capital facility to Telefonica to use for the purchase of BlackBerry smartphones, services and solutions. Telefonica is one of the largest global mobile operators with 315.7 million subscribers spread in 24 nations.
