No Delays for ASUS Transformer Prime
All is set for the release of the much awaited Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime despite rumors stating that the release of this tablet in the market would be delayed.
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime weighs around 1.3 lbs. and has a dimension of 10.35"x 7.12" x 0.33". It is considered as one of the thinnest tablet in the market and it could also function as a laptop because it has an option for a keyboard dock. Display size is 10.1-inch pressure-sensing multi touch display made with 1280 x 800-pixel resolution. It is also the first tablet in the market that has Nvidia's quad-core Tegra 3 chip running at 1.4GHz and 1GB of RAM. Storage capability is up to 32GB eMMC Flash and battery life of up to 12 hours (18 hours with docking station). It is available in two colors Amethyst Gray and Champagne Gold. The operating system for this tablet is Android 3.2 Honeycomb but there are reports stating that once Android 4.0 or Android ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) would be released, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer would also get an update.
The rumors speculating about the delay in the release of this tablet came about from NCIX, an online retailer. A customer who pre-ordered this tablet through NCIX shared the e-mail sent by the said retailer:
"Unfortunately, we just received word that the ASUS Transformer Prime has been delayed worldwide and will most likely not be available before Christmas. ASUS feels the WiFi range does not currently meet their standards and has delayed all shipments worldwide. At the moment there is no ETA and no information on available quantities on the first batch."
Asus denied that there would be a delay for the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime and released this response regarding this rumor:
"We are trying to confirm who released this statement and for what purpose right now. At this point, we still show to be on schedule to start shipments the week of 12/19. I will provide an update once I have additional information."
Presently, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is already available in the U.S. through BestBuy and customers could purchase it for US$499 (32GB) and US$599 (64GB). As for Australian buyers, Asus Australia confirmed that the tablet would be available by January 2012 through their tweet. Here is what the company tweeted (from @ASUSAU):
"Hi tweeps, received much love for the Transformer Prime! In stores in Jan 2012. Price is still TBC. More information when it's confirmed :)"
